Ricky Gervais Roasts Grammy Celebs for Anti-ICE Rants: "They're Still Not Listening"

Ricky Gervais wasted no time calling out the hypocrisy at the 2026 Grammy Awards held on February 1 in Los Angeles. The British comedian reposted a clip from his infamous 2020 Golden Globes monologue on X and Instagram the next day, captioning it "They're still not listening" with a laughing emoji.

In the monologue, Gervais had warned celebrities, "If you do win an award tonight, don't use it as a platform to make a political speech. You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg."

His jab targeted the night's multiple anti-ICE speeches and displays. Bad Bunny, accepting Album of the Year and Best Música Urbana Album, declared "ICE out!" from the stage.

He added, "We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans. Hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love."

Billie Eilish, winning Song of the Year for "Wildflower," went further, saying "fuck ICE" and "No one is illegal on stolen land." She continued, "It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter."

Dozens of stars wore "ICE Out" pins on the red carpet, including Eilish, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, Jack Antonoff, Kehlani, and others. The protest tied into nationwide anti-ICE demonstrations, fueled by recent federal immigration raids in cities like Minneapolis that resulted in clashes and deaths.

Gervais's comments help expose the double standard of wealthy performers who use award shows to push open-borders politics, while ignoring the real consequences of illegal immigration. These celebrities, protected by their money and security, tell ordinary Americans how to live but never deal with the results themselves.

It is no wonder Gervais keeps hammering this point. The left's celebrity wing embodies everything wrong with modern activism - shallow, performative, and disconnected from the struggles of ordinary people who deal with the border crisis daily.

Until these stars trade their luxury for a dose of reality, their sermons ring hollow, and Gervais will keep reminding them why no one is buying it.
