Students Raped After Being Forced to Live in Complex Alongside 125 “Refugees”

Stek Oost, in Amsterdam's Watergraafsmeer district, opened in 2018 as the latest government 'solution' to the housing crisis and the flood of refugees. Officials matched 125 Dutch students with 125 migrants, hoping forced friendships would somehow civilize the newcomers and help them blend in.

On paper, it was all about idealism and integration. In reality, it became a nightmare of predatory behavior from most of the migrants.

An investigation by the Dutch documentary program Zembla exposed the nightmare. Former resident Amanda described how a Syrian neighbor repeatedly asked her to his room to watch a film and practice Dutch, as he wanted to help her integrate. When she finally agreed in 2019, he trapped her inside, refused to let her leave, and raped her. She filed a police report, but authorities dismissed it for "lack of evidence."

Six months later, another woman raised alarms about the same man, yet the housing association and municipality claimed legal hurdles prevented eviction. The Syrian stayed until his arrest in March 2022 after more accusations. In 2024, he was convicted of raping Amanda and another resident, receiving just three years in prison, a slap on the wrist for destroying lives. Identified as Mohammed RA in some reports, this case highlights the light sentences handed to these predators.

The horrors went beyond one predator. Residents reported constant harassment, stalking, physical fights in hallways and common areas, drug trafficking, and threats. One male student said a refugee held an eight-inch kitchen knife to his face during a confrontation.

Stadgenoot, the housing firm managing the complex, suspected a gang rape occurred in a flat during the summer of 2023. Police confirmed seven sexual assault reports linked to the premises, though they claimed no direct knowledge of a gang rape.

Earlier, in 2022, broadcaster AT5 revealed that one refugee faced accusations of six sexual attacks between 2018 and 2021, sparking a long legal battle to remove him. Former residents have filed 20 reports of sexual assault and violence connected to the building over the past 18 months alone.

Stadgenoot staff were soon in over their heads. Manager Mariëlle Foppen admitted they could no longer guarantee anyone’s safety and lost sleep over the threats to her team. The company tried to shut down the project in 2023 after employees were threatened, but Amsterdam’s authorities refused, hiding behind legal technicalities.

The Stek Oost refugee integration project appears to have been a local initiative driven by the Municipality of Amsterdam and Stadgenoot itself to address "housing shortages" and promote "migrant adaptation." Who are they asking to adapt, the citizens or the immigrants?

District chair Carolien de Heer confessed that the behavior was unacceptable and "frightening," but claimed the law tied their hands, and did nothing, repeatedly did nothing. Internal documents show warnings going back to 2019, yet the authorities let the disaster continue. The complex will limp on until 2028, with the migrant share only cut to 30% after a belated compromise. It should be 0.

This fiasco is a textbook example of the madness of forcing native Europeans to live side by side with large numbers of migrants from cultures that have no respect for women or Western values. Many of these refugees, coming from Islamic backgrounds, saw local girls as targets, turning student housing into a place of fear and violence. The authorities knew the risks from the start but chose to look the other way rather than risk being called intolerant. That cowardice costs lives and shatters any trust in the system.

The left's multicultural dream always ends the same way: native populations pay the price in blood and trauma while spineless officials hide behind bureaucracy and legal obstacles.

Europe must end these experiments, stop the influx, deport the predators, and prioritize the protection of its people over imported problems. The victims in Stek Oost and countless others deserve justice, not more excuses from spineless leaders who value diversity above everything else.
